Whether to buy a house or rent has been an age old debate. But this decision is made largely by your financial position and disposable income. For all those who are not yet ready to buy a house, check out these rent houses apps that help you in finding the most suitable property for your requirements.

  1. NestAway
    NestAway is a house rental start-up started in 2015 by a group of NIT Surathkal alumnus.  The startup converts unfurnished flats into furnished apartments ready for occupancy with affordable pricing. Their goal was to provide a quality chain of homes for rent that meet the basic standards. They used their app/ website as a means of reaching out to the people in search of flats. NestAway operates in almost all major cities and is a nationwide service.  All NestAway homes come fully furnished and they take care of maintenance for the tenant as well as for the homeowner. NestAway is more than just a house discovery platform. It also helps tenants just their security deposit back, eases payments and offers an insurance policy too. The app allows you to schedule a visit to the property without the involvement of a middleman. NestAway allows you to book shared rooms, private rooms and full houses for singles and families. They also offer various schemes and offers regularly.
  2. MagicBricks
    MagicBricks, a property rental portal, has recently launched their app as well. It is said to be India’s No.1 property site and one of the best apps to find houses for rent. MagicBricks operates across all major Indian cities. It uses your GPS to find you homes in your preferred location. MagicBricks hosts a simple User Interface. It primarily meets the needs of those looking at buying houses, but it can also be used by those looking to rent houses.

    MagicBricks offers a variety of real estate to choose from, apartments, villas, offices, godowns and also agricultural land. It also allows you set a budget and gives you suggestions within it. When it finds a location meeting your requirements, it sends a notification to the customer. MagicBricks also has the feature of putting up ads for properties for sale or rent.
  3. Commonfloor
    One of the more popular websites for house hunting, Commonfloor offers both houses for sale as well as rent.  Started out as an apartment management solution provider, it is now India’s leading property platform that caters to the customer’s every need. Commonfloor provides rentals in more than 120 Indian cities.  They launched their app in 2013. It provides the facility of listing properties too.

    Common floor is the only property portal that allows you to view the apartment from the comfort of your home through their Live-In Tours feature. Their retina feature allows you to view multiple properties before you make your final choice.
  4. NoBroker
    This app does exact what it’s name suggests, removes the broker from the equation of house renting. Its main feature is that it lets you rent a house with zero brokerage fees. NoBroker not only helps you search for houses to buy and rent, but is also have paying guests listed. One can also search for roommates via the NoBroker app or website.

    Despite of getting several threats and legal notices from brokers in various cities, NoBroker has been expanding all over the country. Posting their property on NoBroker is free for the home owners. Potential customers too do not have to pay for the first 9 contacts they browse though, after that, there is a charge of Rs.1000. The company also offers the services of an assistant who will assist you in shorting listing properties according to your need for a fee of Rs.1,999.

    99acres is a real estate website founded in 2005 and one of the early players in the market. The website features much more than just homes and commercial projects for sale and rent; it also helps you get in touch with dealers and builders to suit every customer’s need. They moved onto rent houses app  in 2013.

    99acres is present in most major Indian cities, taking their operations pan India. It also gives people the option of post their property which they are putting up for sale or rent, for free.
  6. is an online realty portal launched in 2007. is the first property portal that was specifically designed considering mobile phone users. Their property Index ( Makaan Property Index) keeps a track of property prices in various cities around India. The company has yet another unique feature called makaanIQ. It records your preferences and property searching patterns to give you intelligent information and suggestions so you can make an informed choice. recently developed a bot that pops up a chatbox when you open the app or the website. It allows users to have a more human-like communication with the company. User can type in basic questions to the bot and it typically replies in a few minutes. The website allows you to search for agents along with properties for rent as well as sale. They have also rated their sellers based on various parameters such as response rate, deals closed and property coverage.
