New Delhi - With the vision to become a 10 trillion dollar economy in the next 8 years, finance minister Piyush Goyal has outlined 10 core dimensions which the government will focus in the upcoming decade.
Presenting the Interim Budget 2019-20, the finance minister said, “We have resolved many problems which were coming in the way of realising our full potential as a society and an economy. We are poised to become a 5 trillion dollar economy in the next five years and aspire to become a 10 trillion dollar economy in the next 8 years thereafter.”
To achieve this, the government will focus on social infrastructure, create a digital India, make India a pollution free nation, expand rural industrialisation, clean rivers and provide safe drinking water to all Indians, strengthen coastline and ocean waters, expand space programme, bring self suffiency in food, make India a healthy nation and transform India into a minimum government maximum governance nation.
Enumerating on the achievement of the government earlier, the minister said, “From being the 11th largest economy in the world in 2013-14, we are today the 6th largest in the world. Besides generating high growth rate, we contained double-digit inflation and restored fiscal balance.”
